Nezuko Kamado is a central character in the manga series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. She is the younger sister of the protagonist, Tanjiro Kamado.
Initially a human, Nezuko was transformed into a demon by Muzan Kibutsuji, the progenitor of all demons, during an attack that claimed the rest of her family. While becoming a demon, she retains a degree of her human consciousness and memories, setting her apart from most other demons.
Unlike typical demons, Nezuko does not crave human flesh and instead regains energy through sleep. She is often carried in a wooden box, crafted by Urokodaki Sakonji, to protect her from sunlight, which is lethal to demons.
Nezuko fights alongside her brother, Tanjiro, against other demons, using her unique demonic abilities, which include enhanced strength and the ability to manipulate her blood into flames.
